It won't replace either the a4e nor the AHQ torrent as they have a special haven for their torrents. This is because they are using BoxTorrents as their official tracker (I think).
Of what I've seen this encode is better than the KAA one video-wise, even though it is noisier. What I'm not so sure about is the translation, timing and typesetting. I'm sure they are more than decent, but I was quite fond of KAA's and I'm not sure niizk can top it.
EDIT: Noise is not at always a bad thing. If, as in this case, the source has huge amount of noise it's much better to leave it be than to apply a detail-killing de-noiser.

I thought as much regarding the a4e torrent. As this is not multi-audio I didn't even dare suggest it was to replace the AHQ torrent. The typesetting is indeed only so-so. As for myself, I usually prefer rather simple subbing-styles. Video quality matters more to me and I loathe oversmoothing. To each his own, I guess.
I do suspect this is headed for the rejection-bin. Oh well...

You can't replace a4e torrents...and really I don't see a reason to upload this because a4e's version is up, but also AHQ's (although they technically don't count either...)

AHQ is multi-audio, this is not. And indeed, this is similar to a4e (which it shouldn't replace; I see that now), but it is of highest quality. I would think this would be a nice addition to the Boxtorrents repository. But if the presence of an a4e torrent excludes other alternatives, I will be happy to delete this.
Looking at - for instance - both torrents for Kiki's Delivery Service, I assumed there was precedent for this offer.

wow, niizk's really is a lot better. If you look at the tree on the second image you see so much more detail.
Can you make a comparison with AHQ?

The comparison was done by niizk. I did have AHQ's encode but deleted it. I also had a4e's and KAA's versions, but trashed all in exchange for this encode. All of niizk's recent Ghibli encodes have been of comparably high quality. There's a slight problem with the redness of the colours, but this is native to the r2 dvd (and can be fixed by changing your monitor color temperature if you find it noticeable or distracting). If someone else can share a comparison pic for AHQ's version?

It seems there's no single-audio version of this movie on Boxtorrents anyway, so I'd imagine this is grantable whether it compares well to the AHQ/a4e versions or not. And I imagine it does.

Good to see it approved. A big difference over KAA's with video quality. Just look at the screenshot with the tree.

As usual, niizk has provided the definitive encode of this movie masterpiece. I have compared it to the KAA and a4e versions - I discarded both of them for this.

October 1st 2008 (3 years and 7 months and 15 days)Okay, this is my first anime offer. Don't shoot me. I 'borrowed' Kurohige's simple but pleasing description style. He used this for another niizk/Ghibli offer, so I thought it appropriate.
