There's also the advantage of being XviD compatible with stand-alone DivX players, but I seem to remember Daiz killing that idea. Not that I think fansub groups had stand-alone compatibility in mind alone when they decided to release XviD, but rather the opportunity for low-end computers to play them.Actually, I believe it was something about the containers that causes most of the incompatibility. Thus AVI vs. MKV, it seems most stand alone players nowadays can display H264 files.
I would be in favor to only accept H264 releases for new anime (2010-->), but that will happen on its own anyway since most anime fansubbers don't release AVI/XviD anymore and that will only increase. Of course we do have those unofficial re-encoding "groups" because of that, but still...

is this weired like macroxx 7?If by weired you mean "sucks"... then I would say no. Macross F is much better than Macross 7 in almost every way. The references to Macross 7 are minor.... although there is almost a complete episiode dedicated to a reference to Macross Zero (which is also pretty good).

May 4th 2010 (2 years and 17 days)Hmm, I was going to write an argument, but I am not sure now.
Mainly interested because I have a similar offer on-hold. D=
The most obvious choice would be XviD so low-end computers can play them whereas h264 is closer to the 720p solution, and may not be playable on the low-end computers. XviD would mean that more people can play it, rather than SD 264 which some people may still be restricted from playing.
I remember 5 years ago when my old, old computer fucking choked at playing this file. Granted, most people have then acquired new gear and can even play 1080p, but some people just don't have money nor want to spend more money. Is that their problem then? Some would say yes because you need to follow technology.
XviD still seems marginally popular so it would be rather wise to keep it for a few years.
There's also the advantage of being XviD compatible with stand-alone DivX players, but I seem to remember Daiz killing that idea. Anyway, feel free to reply, but let's try to avoid a flame war.^^
