I kept getting the artifacting and distorted coloring while viewing the Hi10p encode with K-lite/CCCP and SMplayer/MPC-HC, until I tried the MPC-HC + madVR combination detailed in this guide --> http://haruhichan.com/wpblog/?p=205 . Worked like a charm. VLC 1.2 beta also played without artifacting, but with imperfect subtitle rendering and some slow-down.

hey that totally solved my problem. thank you very much

great film btw :)

Great movie, but the download is not an actual 1080P file, its a slight downscale. (which is probably the reason why its artifacting a lot)
On OSX with mplayer, quicktime and Divx I get loads of distortion in the image. VLC wont even display an image, just green screen...

That's because they do not support 10-bit encodes.

Why the heck needs 10-bit ? just put NORMAL anime with 720-1080p or Blu-Ray or anything else, this is messy with 10-bit if you haven't configured earlier, but still...the 10-bit is a crap, why make something and post it if you have to search for hints or any advice how to get this thing to work. Eh...i'm very disappointed , no other choice but to search other way or just have to get messed with this thing to get it work.

MplayerX on Mac fully supports 10-bit. It's free through the App Store and easy to search for.

Am I the only one getting weird loopframes at specific points in the 1080p 10bit version? (always at 03:13) They only last for a second, but its still annoying since the audio cuts and then resumes.
Im using a clean install of the latest k-lite pack so everything should work just fine.

Make sure you are using an updated H.264 decoder such as CoreAVC or ffdshow.

Wow this blows my mind every time. The animation is so good I can't get over it. I love the way the cars freak out before speeding off when a nitro is used, so intense!

Step 1: Download the newest CCCP.

Congratulations you're done!

Does anyone know about a forum, tutorial or any web page that could show the way to correctly play the 5.1 FLAC track through a system of 5.1 speakers??

I can play AC3 or DTS audio just by selecting "Pass-through (S/PDIF HDMI)" in the audio output decoder properties and/or sound controller preferences. This way the audio signal is send raw to the speakers through an optical toslink cable and they decode it because they have that capability. I know it can't happen the same way with 5.1 FLAC because the speakers can't decode that audio format. When I play 5.1 FLAC content the signal is send in stereo and the speakers play it in stereo.

How is it possible to play 5.1 FLAC sound in 5.1 channels? How is the correct way to enjoy this audio format on its best expression? If I'm not mistaken 5.1 FLAC is in the same level as Dolby True HD or DTS Master Audio. 5.1 FLAC has great audio experience but hearing it in stereo stays shorts compared to AC3 or DTS.

Thanks!!

It depends on your player.
Certain players will transcode the FLAC in to a format (usually AC3 or PCM) that your audio system can playback via pass-through and still enjoy the 5.1 surround.
